5th December 2011                                                                Traveller’s tails from JoJo

Stuart and I were volunteers with Second Chances when we decided to foster JoJo in 2006, although it was only intended to be a temporary arrangement, it was evident very soon that she was with us to stay – and to stay with us for good. Whilst we had fallen in love with JoJo, Stuart and I had made a decision to emigrate to Canada, so we now had to start looking at our plans to see how we could take JoJo with us. Being a German Shepherd she took everything in her stride and we spent a fabulous 3 and a half years together living in British Columbia, Canada.

We loved the scenery and the wildlife in Canada.  JoJo has seen bears, coyotes and raccoons, and has followed in the tracks of wolves.

Agility was very popular where we were living, so I entered JoJo entered in a few competitions, and for a German Shepherd, she did alright.  This is JoJo with some of her rosettes; not all for agility, her first rosette was won at the Second Chances fun day in 2006 when she took reserve Best in Show;this was such a proud moment.

Due to family circumstances we found ourselves having to come back to Scotland. We are all now back in Scotland – and back volunteering with Second Chances. JoJo now joins me on home visits and passes on her wisdom to help teach some manners toa young pup being fostered.

26th October 2011
John and his Second Chance's girl Skye continue to fundraise for the charity

On May 1st 2008, John Dunbavin and his super fit girl Skye, set off on a continuous walk of 2,134 miles together  unsupported, over all the Scottish Munro Mountains.

This epic feat was to raise funds for the many dogs that come into SECOND CHANCES and THE ANTHONY NOLAN TRUST.
John and Skye's wonderful efforts and dedication have helped numerous dogs in our care.

And again, John gave a talk on his fantastic journey and raised even more funds for the Charity!
What a fantastic commitment, enduring all that hardship and pain, (along with spectacular views,) we cannot thank John and Skye enough.
Because of John and Skye, and people like him, we are able to continue to re-home the many dogs that come into the Charity for which we are truly grateful..

With our dogs in foster care, kennelling  food, and the ongoing vet bills, to name but a few, of our ever increasing  expenses.

BIG THANKS TO JOHN AND SKY.
