GIZMO AND ROCCO

Rocco had been adopted from Second Chances a couple of years previously and his mum felt it was the right time to look for a companion for him. Our volunteer who spoke to Rocco's mum had just been to see a lovely little girl who was being given to the rescue due to a change in the family's circumstances. Gizmo was taken to meet Rocco to see how they would get on. We all went for a walk and Rocco seemed fine so we went home. Once inside the house it was a different story and Rocco decided he would let Gizmo know it was HIS home. She was a very quiet girl and didn't react to his bullying. We told Carol to keep an eye on things and get in touch if it was getting out of hand. Within a couple of days the tables were turned and Gizmo had decided she had had enough of him, and like all big bullies, when she answered him back, he backed off.

They are now firm friends and SHE is definitely the boss!!! GIRL POWER.

A new dog coming into the home is a big change for everybody. In this society when everything is expected to happen instantaneously, it's very easy to say "it's not working" if they don't settle immediately, but given time and patience it comes good in the end. Don't miss out on a great companion just because they take time to get to know you.
