CARING
FOR GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS
|
 |
We
don't put photos on our website of any of the dogs until they
have been successfully rehomed. Most of the German Shepherds that
come into the charity are much loved and the families have entrusted
them to us to rehome. we understand their loss and because of
this we do not show them. |
| Second
Chances
have all sorts of German Shepherd dogs to suit everyone's needs:
all ages too, from puppies right through to older dogs. All the
dogs are handled and assessed and no dogs go into homes with children
unless they are used to them. |
 |
|
|
We
also have lots of dogs to suit the more experienced owner who
would want to do agility work. German Shepherds are very intelligent
dogs and usually have a high play drive and the more work/training
you put in (making it fun), the better your dog becomes. |
|
Training
begins in the home - with simple one-word commands you can master
with your dog: SIT, STAY, DOWN and STAND.
A
trained dog is a pet - an untrained dog is an animal!
|
|
 |
There
are also older German Shepherds who make wonderful, loyal companions
and don't require quite the activities the youngsters do. They
usually adjust so easily in a new caring home. Please remember
you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! |
